Today i have assignment to create the laboratory management, it is like a standart operation, it is used to manage Work Instruction, Operational Procedure and Another laboratory letter. I think it is can be easy where i’m used a large of paper or white board to break down the child element using root concept, hmmm..in past office meeting with our Head office, he’s introduced the Mind maping Application written in Java. This application is Freemind, you can try the latest version (Release 0.9.0 Beta 19)
I’m using the latest version (beta) on my ubuntu 8.10(Intrepid Ibex), but by default, ubuntu intrepid ibex used the freemind steable version(0.81), this is my simple way to install freemind, it’s not difficult but it is the dependencies > Java Runtime Environment 1.4 or later. You can find Sun’s Java.
Now, we can utilize the ubuntu Software packages to simplify our freemind installation.
Install freemind on our machine, by default the steable version(0.81) be installed
GUI
Open the synaptic package Manager, System > administration > Synaptic Packages Manager
Search the freemind application
Check for installation > Apply the installation

root@blackbox# apt-get update
root@blackbox# apt-get install freemind

Download the latest version from here
Extract the newest version on our directory(the past download, i choose the binnary packages )

andrew@balckbox:~$ unzip freemind-bin-0.9.0_RC_3.zip
andrew@balckbox:~$ cd freemind-0.9.0/
andrew@balckbox:~$ chmod +x freemind.sh

run the freemind

andrew@balckbox:~$ ./freemind.sh
