To find the error, I used terminal to launch inkscape application, doing same case with create text and choose another tools, and there are going error again, in my terminal i am find the error message below:

I am find some bug report about this case here and there are many alternative to solve the problem, the result is different depend on machine  related. i am try to applied another trick to solve the crash problem, finally this is the succes trick to solve the inkscape crash ini my machine:

$ vim .bashrc

add this code at the bootom line

unset GTK_IM_MODULE XMODIFIERS

logout and the Inkscape can work well to text editing

$ uname -a

next step is make update the system, by doing apt-get update

Another way is using Graphical user interfaces, by press button alt + F2 and then type gksu update-manager
the progress may be little longer, it’s because we get update packages from ppa launchpad, so we must be patient for it. After complete the update, we can installing the newest packages version by Install all update, including Pidgin IM.

GOCR is an OCR (Optical Character Recognition) program, developed under the GNU Public License. It converts scanned images of text back to text files. Joerg Schulenburg started the program, and now leads a team of developers.
GOCR can be used with different front-ends, which makes it very easy to port to different OSes and architectures. It can open many different image formats, and its quality have been improving in a daily basis.

This appication is great to make read the document, we must familiar using terminal or console to make simple work, yeah it’s bertter than we used GUI for interface. The first step I’m doing is Install this GOCR in the lecturer Personal Computer, using feisty fawn, i assume that their source repository was old and not longer available and I added the repository from repo.ugm.

after the installation process, we prepare our document scanning, we can use .png or .pgm extension for our document, for detail information we can read the manual of GOCR by typing $man gocr in your console. in example, name of document which need to read is data.pgm and we start to convert and read the document. The put the document in home directory and we work on it. this is the simple way i used.

$ gocr -i [file.pgm|filepng] -o [outputfile]

this is the explanation:

-i file read input from file (or stdin if file is a single dash)
-o file send output to file instead of stdout

the output file we can use to next editing level, but the result are still need of repair by human.

Lazarus is the class libraries for Free Pascal that emulate Delphi. Free Pascal is a GPL’ed compiler that runs on Linux, Win32, OS/2, 68K and more. Free Pascal is designed to be able to understand and compile Delphi syntax, which is of course OOP. Lazarus is the part of the missing puzzle that will allow you to develop Delphi like programs in all of the above platforms. Unlike Java which strives to be a write once run anywhere, Lazarus and Free Pascal strives for write once compile anywhere. Since the exact same compiler is available on all of the above platforms it means you don’t need to do any recoding to produce identical products for different platforms.

We will try to using this application to make some application same as previous project as based on Delphi. Fisrtly we need to install Lazarus on my machine, this is step by step installation on my ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid Ibex):

1. Open the Synaptic Package Manager , “System > Administration > Synaptic Package Manager”
2. Add lazarus repositories for get the newer version(now on this letter 0.9.26), lazarus 0.9.24 available on ubuntu 8.10. Add the repositories ” Settings > Repositories”. and choose the” Third-Party Software” tab, and add the line repositories below :
   • deb http://www.hu.freepascal.org/lazarus/ lazarus-stable universe
   • deb http://www.hu.freepascal.org/lazarus/ lazarus-testing universe
3. Check the updates using “Reload” button to get the newest update from source repostitory.
4. Search the application using keyword “lazarus”
5. Checklist  for installation on packages fpc-source, lazarus, lazarus-doc, lazarus-ide , lazarus-src. Right click on list package > Mark for Installation
6. Installation completed
7. Launch the lazarus from menu bar, “Application > Programming > Lazarus”
8. After launched the application, may be find error message “Free Pascal Source Directory not found“, don’t worry it will be add for next step, please chose the “ignore” button.
9. The next step is adding  the Free Pascal Source Directory path, En vironment > Environment Options, an then chose the FPC source directory,  browse to FPC path “/usr/share/fpcsrc/2.2.0/” . Ok

first, we must mount the removable disk on our pc, so we must create folder under /media/ to mounting directory

This application can replcae the webeditor like Dreamweaver or MS Frontpage, it’s better if we know the real code than see the preview only and make drag your mouse.

this’s the simple aplication the help me to pick colour from desktop to make a hexcode colour for css properties. we can use this application for color picker and get the html colour code. this’s the kcolour chooser capture

You can create another design and apply the start menu on your custom desktop . This is step by step how to create the custom start menu using inkscape vector Graphic Editor.

1. launch the inkscape vector ilustrator, Application >> Graphics >> Inkscape.
2. Set the default documents properties, i’m create the start menu dimension on 100×34 pixel. it’s up to you to determine this dimension. to set this document properties :File >> Document Properties. and set your documents dimension on the field. Close the window to complete your configuration.
   
3. create rectangle using Tool Rectangles and square (f4), this is create for the background of the start button. you can set the dimension :92 x 34px.
   
4. Next step we can make flection on right side, it’s like as windows xp button, to create the flection convert the rectangle to path, choose form menu bar: Path >> Object to Path or use the shoort cut (Ctrl + Shift + C )
5. Chose the right line using path selector (F2). and the next task is make the strike line to flection line, press the F2 and click on right border line, then click on top menu bar “Make Selected Custom Curve” button, and fly your imagination in here..
   
6. Next step, we can make shadow, it’s like a 3d button, select the object then  we can duplicate it, we can use Ctrl + D to easy our work. Scale your duplicate result using select and transform object tool (F1) an then press on the 2nd object, drag and pres Shift button to have scalable result, it’s better if we give the different colour for the 2nd objet like this.
   
7. Oh, it’s haven’t seen it, next we make blur effect for 2nd object, show theFill and Stroke properties side tab using Ctrl + Shift + F . Select the 2nd Object and chose from Fill and stroke Properties, you can see the blur slide, fill blur number on the field(ie i’m using 5.0). and this’s the result.
   
8. Ok, it’s better then the past view:P, next step we make the glass effect, i’m usually use the previous object an then using Ctrl + D to duplicate it, Ok, select the 2nd obcject and duplicate this object, the result is 3rd object and it’s better when we change the fill color to more easy our work. this’s the result. ups..don’t forget to adjust the blur number and opacity number to get the best view on your mind like this.
   
9. It’s not enough glass effect, we must add another effect on the flection side, we can duplicate the 3rd object an rotate(use button “[" or "]“) the object result(4th Object) and place the position like this. it’s more interested if we’re make the shadow like a flection.
   
10. We can add the glass shine effect to make our start like a lamp. Chose (F1) the first object (background) and the duplicate it(Ctrl + D), we get 4th object, change the fill objet, i’m use white fill color to give glass effect. the 4th object will  be positon in front of all, it’s ok, next step we must adjust the size and shape for get the glass as we need, like this.
    
11. It’s need to be adjust the transparency, select (F1) the 4th object an then press the Create and Edits Gradient (Ctrl +F1),and then drag from top to bottom, it’s the result.
12. It’s look like a button now, we can add more glass effect, we can repeat the step-8, but we must set the colour to soft fill, and we can place the 5th objet in behind of 4th object, and this’s the view.
    
13. The last, we can add the text ,it’s better if we choose the right font type and the postion, in example we add the UGOS logo company profile, and the text menu is “Menu”, you can use “Start” or “Mulai” it’s up to you . and This is the final start button. 
    
14. Export the custom icon, Ctrl+ Shift + E, and give the custom name.png

Ok, The custom start menu was ready to use for our desktop, i’m using ubuntustudio 8.10 to apply this custom start menu button, an this is the step.

1. Right click on bottom panel, and then >> add to panel >> choose the “main menu”  an place the new start on position as you like, in example bottom left.
2. Press Alt+F2 to Launch the gconf-editor
3. Find the /apps/panel/object_0
4. check on use_custom_iconcheckbox on”use_custom_icon”
5. Browse the locate file custom icon
6. finish

My Linux Studioworks desktop, Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron, using Gnome for default desktop manager. I’ve had very good time with this distribution so far. I tried quite a few distros before ending up using Ubuntu version before it. I can say this is the best match distro for my hardware.

GRUB akan tertimpa kernel wind$ apabila kita melakukan installasi ulang mesin dengan OS WInd$, bootloader wind$ tidak mampu mengenali adanya operating system lain yang juga ada di mesin kita. Dampak dari tertimpanya GRUB, kita tidak bisa masuk ke operating sistem linux.

Perlu usaha untuk mengembalikan GRUB agar manajemen bootloader kembali normal seperti sediakala. “Banyak jalan menuju roma”untuk mengembalikan GRUB, ini salah satu cara sederhana yang sering aku pake:

Misalkan mesin kita terinstall 2 OS, Win$ dan Linux, contoh konfigurasinya biasanya sebagai berikut:
Partisi Primary > [WindowsXP] > C:\
Partisi Extended > [Logical 1] > D:\
Partisi Extended > [Logical 2] > *)Linux

*) kali ini kemaren menggunakan ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy Gibbon)
yang perlu disiapkan adalah live cd untuk mensetup kembali GRUB yang hilang

langkah kejanya sebagai berikut:

1. Set konfigurasi bios untuk first boot dari cdrom
2. Masukkan Live CD yang sudah disiapkan
3. Masuk kedalam desktop, kemudian buka aplkasi Terminal atau konsol.
   Menu > application > Terminal
4. Melalui terminal kita akan masuk kedalam konfigurasi GRUB
   andrew@blackbox:~$ sudo grub
   kemudian akan muncul prompt GRUB seperti dibawah ini:

   [ Minimal BASH-like line editing is supported. For
the first word, TAB lists possible command
completions. Anywhere else TAB lists the possible

5. Berikutnya mencari dimana letak penginstallan GRUB berada
   grub> find /boot/grub/stage1
   misalkan didapatkan hasil (hd0,3), ini adalah informasi yang akan kita gunakan untuk mensetup pada tahap selanjutnya
6. Selanjutnya, masuk ke GRUB yang ada di (hd0,3)
   grub> root (hd0,3)
7. Beikutnya kita mensetup grub yang ada di (hd0,3)
   grub> setup (hd0)
   proses akan berjalan, jika ada kesalahan dalam konfigurasi akan ditampilkan dilayar untuk diperbaiki
8. Jika proses installasi sudah selesai, keluar dari shell GRUB
   grub> grub> quit
9. Berikutnya restart komputer untuk mengetahui hasilnya

Layanan burning softcopy file skripsi hanya boleh dilakukan oleh staff akademik yang berwenang, padahal burning sendiri saja bisa, tapi ini juga salah satu fasilitas yang boleh juga dimanfaatkan. Dibalik pemanfaatan fasilitas ini timbul masalah baru, mahasiswa yang yang akan memburning cd skripsinya harus antre lama… , demikian juga aku. harus ngantri untuk memburning dengan tambahan label + sampul yang sama dengan teman yang lain.

Hasil burning cuman 1 keping cd dengan label + wadahnya, padahal ada harus ngumpulin ke 3 dosen lagi, yah.. harus ngopi sendiri..ini cerita bagaimana menggandakan cd dengan brasero yang berjalan di ubuntu8.04:

1. Pertama yang aku lakukan adalah beli cd blank dahulu, sejumlah yang diperlukan.
2. Kedua buka brasero lewat main menu >> sound and video >> brasero cd burning skrinsyutnya adadi bawah ini:
   
3. Kemudian mucul tapilan brasero seperti dibawah ini, kemudian pilih menu Disc Copy:
   
4. Keluar pilhan yang berisi infomasi mengenai cd yang akan dicopy dan berapa kali cd akan dicopy,
   
   apabila sudah ada cd yang berada di cdrom maka akan otomatis mengcopy untuk digandakan
5. Brasero bekerja
   
6. Setelah proses burning selesai akan muncul dialog, yang meminta untuk memasukkan cd lain yang akan di burn
   
7. Prsoses burning selesai, jangan diklik cancel tapi masukkan saja cd berikutnya, Brasero akan secara otomatis melanjutkan tugasnya

tampilan dengan warna dominan hitam
